Lucie Awards

As much as I am disappointed that I won't be invited to the Lucie Awards in NYC as an award winner, I did receive five honorable mentions, which brings my grand total up to seven. Honorable Mentions are OK, right? In any case, it lets me know that the erotic pictures are fair game, which gets me excited about next year. Here are the four pictures they selected ("Orgasm #1" received two):

from what i've gathered, the lucies are the ceremony associated with "the international photo awards." lenny mentioned it a while ago, and i've seen blurbs about it in pdn for a while. it's being touted as "the oscars for photographers," which i mostly think is true. i'm proud, and this will look good on my resume, but is it wrong to have wanted to go just so i could wear a pretty ball gown?

thanks!

You do a amazing work. Maybe the three photos for the Lucie Awards have been in between your work the more softer ones. I would have choosen in any case the untitled62.jpg and maybe the untitled8.jpg
In any case, I think, it was also a question of your young age. They wouldnt give this award to somebody young as you. But I hope you go on, since a long time I saw photography that shattered. I also would like to obtain a print.

amy--ha ha, a woman after my own heart. i'd wear my old prom dress to run errands if it we're for the fact that it doesn't fit me anymore. i've gotten smaller.

grijsz--thank you! i'm not entirely certain they knew how young i was, nor should that matter even if they did, but i'm just happy they accepted the "dirty" pictures at all. we'll see what happens next year. as for obtaining a print, you can email me at samantha at his dot com, and we can discuss. i actually emailed you before (last night?), but it's possible i was put in spam if you had never heard from me before.

You should have gone to the Lucie awards. 4 nights of party and hanging out with the masters of photography was the high light of my photography life. I have never seen anything like it. To me it was much better than the Oscar. It was a great evening well worth the $30 I paid for it. I managed to get invited to the after party dinner which was a great!
I see that there was 16,000+ entries. You should be proud of yourself to be a winner.
I didn't win this year but I managed to get an assignment form Times Magazine at the dinner party. I am all happy it worked for me.
