New Work

Contrary to popular belief, I've been working. Most of my recent shoots have been private sessions, so you can't see any of them. The other shoots were for Nerve Magazine, which I can't legally show you until they post them, which could take a few weeks. However, I had a fantastic shoot last weekend that was intended for Nerve, but there's a chance they can't use them, so I was allowed to play around with them.

A and B are the same picture, but I couldn't decide between monochrome and color. Any votes?

well, The Boy said BW, too. i don't know!

i have to look at the bigger pictures. you can't tell from the blog shots, but there's a sign to the left that says "thank you for not smoking." if it's not obvious, she's holding a lit cigarette. it may come down to which picture, even with dodging and burning, shows that off better.

yeah, should have shot in raw, then you can recover and overblown highlights and too dark shadows!
try this, go to adobe site, get trial version of lightroom, watch tutorials and try to recover cig and sign.

id go grayscale. it just prints better in a smaller format. and looks better on computer screens. i perfer to use color as a very meaningful compositional element.

I like the colour one. Makes it look like a painting!

Another vote for monochrome. Gives it a noir feeling and makes the mood more sultry.

the colour one...it blurs the boundaries between what is art (generally b&w) and what is not. I agree with your mother :)

The colour one looks real, her nipples are pink and pert! I like the colour one because I can relate to it, I know what a woman in bed like that is like, the smells the sounds, everything, the black and white one is arty, and nice, but not raw and slutty-esque, and arty like the colour one. I like the colour one, porn-esque but art-esque too.

I disagree with my friend, which just commented. The b/w one!
It's beautiful and arty and it doesn't look one bit cheap. Verrrrrry classy and motel-esque. There's a great book on motel photographs that it would sit perfectly in.

b/w left a great black area on the left - I'm a fan of significant transitions between dark and light.
cool,
B
