Update

1. Check out Fleshbot!

2. My beloved Box Mag has a new blog. Check it out: http://www.box-mag.com/blog/

3. Speaking of Box, Issue Six, "Play" is available for downloading on their site, www.box-mag.com. Also, my flipbook is officially for sale, and my Creative Commons photos are up for to play with. You don't have to keep it clean, just clean up when you're done. :)

4. Nerve Magazine is trying to start a new photo series that, in a nutshell, involves photojournalism, stripping, and flirting like hell. They've asked me to help. I've already been confirmed for three spreads (har har), but I could always use more. All models have to be approved by the editors beforehand, and they would prefer more women then men, so if you want to be a part of this, let me know.

New Projects?

So, despite the fact that it has yet to prove itself as a worthwhile financial venture, I'm continuing with the photography and brainstorming a few new ideas. I think I'm working on one involving period portraits (time, not menstrual) with a feminist history slant, and I know I'm working on one involving theatrical makeup and dead animals. Neither pays, they're just for fun. They're also huge departures from the smut I'm known for, which may or may not be the point.

I haven't abandoned the erotica, but it hasn't been progressing they way I would have hoped. I'm still looking for models, especially because I'm still playing with the idea of publishing a book next year (HUGE maybe, given that it needs about 250 pages), and I'm still trying to get the photos up in a gallery somewhere. Basically, it comes down to dedicating my time to endeavors that actually pay me, which this does not. Yet. But I'm trying.

It's Official

I'll be in DC from Monday, July 9 until Thursday, July 19. Brace yourselves.

Click!

VH1 is supposedly casting for a new reality TV show called "Click!" Like "America's Next Top Model," but about photographers. I'm curious, but the idea of being on TV makes me slightly ill. Probably not for me.

Opinions, Please

I'm planning on submitting art to two shows, but they limit how many images I can send them (boo), and I need help deciding which ones to send. This is where you come in. I'm feeling indecisive. Help!

Show 1: Nudes, up to five images total
Show 2: "Figurative Art" (whatever that means), up to three images total

I can't decide between humans and dolls, or which pictures to send. If anyone has LOADS of free time, and feels like making suggestions, please let me know. I've never been one for traditional nudes, but I don't think anything with a blowjob, for example, would work.

Damn these restrictions...

Update

1. Jane Magazine has me on file. They like me, they just don't know what to do with me. It's a start.

2. Suicide Girls wants to see a set from me, but I don't have a model yet. Or a theme. Or a location. Totally open to suggestions.

3. Got a sexy new ring flash yesterday. Definitely want to test it out.

4. So, The Boy and I got the keys to our new place in Berkeley, and I overestimated how big my studio space would be. Which means, unfortunately, I probably won't be able to build a studio in there, but I should still have decent space to shoot anyway.

5. I'll also be in DC for a few weeks in July, potentially longer. I'm probably brining my equipment. I'm open to shooting, depending on the project. I'm just feeling lazy. Email samantha at his dot com if you're interested.

6. Good Vibrations has a magazine. They feature artists. I will be their featured artist for wither July or August. They also have a store. Two stores, in fact. One shows art. They want to have a show. Still in the early stages.

7. Aries1952, that bastard from Rome who stole my work then pretended it was his, has been kicked off Flickr. I'm still not entirely satisfied, but it will have to do for now.

8. I'm playing around with doing a fashion series with sustainable fashion. I feel like it's been done, but it should still be fun. Didn't mean to rhyme just then, but it's so much fun, I might have to do it again. Bask in my genius!

9. Come to the Boob Thing! ArtSF, 110 Capp St. SF, June 16, 8-12 pm. Bring money.

Copyright

It goes without saying that I, Samantha Wolov, hold the copyright to all photos listed on this blog unless otherwise noted.

Why am I saying this?

Seems someone on Flickr has stolen a good number of my photos without tagging or reference to me. Yahoo has been emailed, as has my cousin, the copyright lawyer in NYC.
